I just did mine and I use hot water and just dump it on the ice works very
well and then I have water to clean the thing out with. Once the ice is
gone I pull the plug and it drains, then wipe it out, put the plugs back in
it and away it goes. Takes me about 15 minutes.

Subject: [BlindHandyMan] Defrosting a chest freezer

I have a rather large chest freezer.
I need to defrost it.
I wish to do this in a timely fashion because I have a great deal of food in
there and I don't want to leave it out of the freezer too long even though I
will have enough room in my coolers to keep it all contained.

Here is my plan. Does any one have a better plan or see any thing possibly
damaging about the following.
I have a large stew pot that I was going to put hot watter in and then put
it in the freezer on a steel grate so that it would not sit on the bottom
surface of the freezer and then shut the door and wait for it to reach
entrippy.

my other thought was since heat rises and cool settles I want to get a
steady flow of warm air in the bottom.
I have a rainbow vacume that I can hook the hose to the blower and put the
hose in the bottom of the freezer, this would give me a steady flow of room
temperature.
Since I do not have air conditioning this would end up being probably 75 to
85 degrees
any feed back?
