Have you actually tried this? The problem most of us have is that you cannot actually feel the oil. The problem is that any oil even a very small amount coats the skin so it stops evaporation and other sensory information you would usually feel. It is a little like having moisture on a finger then trying to feel for water.
Doubtless there is at least one blind person out there and probably on this list who can feel the oil mark. Perhaps it is you, but this is exactly why using the traditional dipstick isn't working for the rest of us. This issue comes around about every six months to a year so a truly reliable method would be very much appreciated by a number of people on the list.
