yes, Nutrix, they are a gold plated brass. There are only two finer, Sonic Connections, gold over HCC, or Xhadow Silver over HCC. Personally I very much dislike WBT. First they use brass and not copper. When they do use copper they put a nickle plate as a substraight under the gold. I think they sound shrill. I've been told that the nickle can cause a magnet field at the destination end of the cable which can change the impedence of the cable. Anyway, they are too expensive to be fiddling with troubles.
What company made the gold cables? Very very few I've ever heard do that, as gold (though the least effected of the four best conductors) is the fourth of the best conductors. Cabling is generally some sort of copper. Though P.A.D. has used things like chrome. And lately, I and others are using gold plated silver, and rarely gold plated copper. I've used palladium, and it has it's advantages, but unless one is trying to extend the range of a lush mid band tube amp it is not for all frequencies flat. Your mixer is quite desirable. The patch bay sounds like something better than much of the industry is using. That's why when I build pre's or switching boxes I use the HCC. I wish the teflon insulators could withstand the 1100 needed to pour silver over the connections, instead of using a tin based solder. Yeah, i get nutty with this and have probably seen my waythrough 100K in experiments and projects since I started. What's your amp? Do you have the ICE power supply? I had some NuForce and they were throwing FM noise all over the place. My EDGE g.5 doesn't. Neither did my Audio Magic's. I don't want to get off topic, forgetting where you are; but will say it is a more specialized world than the days of tape if we need those digital amps fixed.
