Dan it sounds like the same knot but maybe not. For instance will say the vertical rope is called the safety rope and will call the one that slides up and down the safety rope the safety line. You take the safety line and make a turn around the safety rope and go once over the safety line and two turns under the safety line and make a half hitch. Now you can lift the safety line by pushing up on the bottom turn of the safety line or down by pushing down on the top turn of the safety line. The safety line it's self will bite into the safety rope if you were to fall. When I worked construction we'd use this same knot to lift or drag heavy cable. I'd also use this knot when I'd be working on scaffolding that we'd go up and down a structure being built. I was an Iron Worker before losing my eye sight. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dan Rossi" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 31, 2007 10:03 AM Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] Different Types of Ropes Explained.
