Ok, I could search on Google, but in a nutshell, how does closed combustion systems work? I'd give, um, well damn near anything if I could rid my life of my heatpump. I have a nice efficient unit, but regardless, in the cold we've been having, well it hasn't done much, but run itself silly. I wish a closed combustion system could be installed, but alas no gas here, but if these systems were capable of not needing to be vented and could be installed for a reasonable cost, well now. See if I could get enough neighbors to buy into gas, I could get the gas company to run lines in here. I think like most folks, the problem with oil, gas, or any other fuel that isn't electricity is venting. The way most houses are built around here, there is an issue with installing a venting system that would be to code and afordable. When these places were built, they didn't leave a load of room for putting in stacks etc. to vent or there's windows to close to do side-venting. Of course with rates going up, it would be nice to find another way. I'd sure consider solar power for heating, but even that would require a faily large investment o fmoney.
