Gerry, Do you have a wet/dry shop vac? If so this has worked for me many times. Get some wet rags or paper towels and hold them tight around the shop vac hose and the sink drain. The suction should pull the clog out and into the vac. If not a small plunger can also help. Most people do not use a plunger the proper way. They push down hard. This only helps to compact and pack the blockage. To use the plunger with a little standing water slowly push it down. Then pull up fast. This will make a vaccume effect pulling the clog back. Personally I like the shop vac method.
You could also remove the trap and clean it out.
