Jennifer, the crushed ice you refer to is made in a verticle freezing cylinder with a rotating screw shaft. The screw shaves the ice off the walls, lifts the ice vetically out of the freezing chamber, compresses it to remove excess water as it forces it thru an opening which determins the size, all in one operation. ......................bob
