hi this oil is very advanced and therefore doesnt need changing as regular as
mineral oil here in the u.k. our car engines are smaller than a lot of your
motor bike engines and we get very high mileages out of our motors considering
how small they are and considering we change our oil less often than in the
states. even diesels dont change ther oil for 10,000 miles here and like vw's
they do about 400,000 miles before they die so based on what we do in the u.k.
and the fact I worked in a garage I would say engines using nineral oil should
have their oil changed every 6000 miles or six months this will see an engine
last at least 150,000 miles and engines using synthetic oil change the oil and
filter every 9000 miles or every 12 months which ever comes first this will see
an engine do at least 200,000 miles. If you dont intend keeping your car till
til u die or intend driving to mars and back these intervals are fine we give
our engines a hammering over here in the u.k. we have lots of steep hills and
scream the guts out of our engines tow trailers stuck in heavy traffic jams and
we still get good service out of our engines over here garage bills are very
high and 4 hours labour cost more than a weeks wages so thats another reason
most cars over here only get serviced once a year and thats all the
manufacturer quotes in their service schedule the other thing is modern cars
cant be serviced on a sunday afternoo any more as they have special faseners
that only the dealers have access to the proper service tools and you need the
special service computers to adjust the engine and fault diagnose. Any way the
point is modern cars dont need very regular oil changes anymore thanks to
modern oils and new engine designs

Subject: [BlindHandyMan] synthetic oil, interval between changes?

Can one change oil less often with synthetic oil as opposed to
regular oil? If so, how long is the interval between changes?
