John, Virtually all of the manufacturers have switched over to a full synthetic or a synthetic blend. They all tell you can go from five to ten thousand on an oil change. One company "Ams Oil" even says you just change the filter and add one quart of their oil every three thousand miles. If you operate your vehicle under optimal conditions and it doesn't have a lot of miles you could probably get away with a five or six thousand mile oil change cycle. My personal feeling is and has always been that oil is one of the cheapest things you will ever put in your automobile so you might as well put in the best and change it every three thousand miles. Castral is one of Carol's major sponsors and I think they are recommending something on the order of a five thousand mile change cycle. for their consumer based synthetic oils.
