Bill,
I have several suggestions what works best depends upon the plastic
composition.

My usually first try is not a glue but lacquer thinner. I test a small part
to see if it melts. If it does I quickly wet both parts of the break and
hold them together this will actually weld the plastic together. That tip
came from an old blind individual who had a Plexiglas business. It makes a
totally clear weld.
There is a glue called plastic weld that can work wonders and my final
choice is a epoxy.
For the epoxies I use one of two types. the two part mix that you must apply
to each piece and the other I sometimes used plumber's epoxy.
The plumber's epoxy comes in a pack like a roll of nickels. You break off a
small piece and kneed it to mix the outer and center core. Years ago I used
this to repair a swimming pool pump. And of course the old stand-by duct
tape, if it can't be fixed withduct-tape it can't be fixed.
Good luck

Subject: [BlindHandyMan] Gluing plastics

I have a very nice bicycle light, (two actually), that I've been using this
year in the dark. It has a very slick mounting bracket which I have affixed
to my dog's harness handle. Unfortunately, it got caught on a fence
yesterday, and of course the part I didn't have two of, broke.

So, can you guys recommend a very good, readily-obtainable glue? I've
always heard that when done right, glued pieces are stronger than the
original, but my experience hasn't borne this out.

Thanks for any suggestions.
