Jim, The goal that Bob and I have is to develop something with far more resolution and dead on repeatability. I like the idea of a spring loaded Detent rather than a locking pin. I can't see anyway to get away from the case extension but it certainly doesn't need to be 6" long and it needs to be more robust. Once I get the end of year and Christmas crap behind me I am going to go spend the afternoon in a friend's machine shop with everybody's ideas and we will see what develops.
