I've never seen a tape or rule marked in Braille at a 16th of an inch. And with that many dots on the tape think of how long you'll spend counting up to 7 or 8 feet.
The tab isn't a bad idea in itself. It's being able to repeat the starting point each time that needs refining. ----- Original Message ----- From: Scott Howell To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, November 30, 2007 5:35 AM Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] a couple of measuring tools Please excuse my ignorence here, but is the extension absolutely necessary? I imagine it is, but is it more to just keep your location nailed down and a way to use smaller measurement indicators? Would it be possible to take a tape and just simply tactually mark it every 1/16 inch, sort of like the typical braille rulers? I had one of the braille tapes a while ago, but can't recall how you used it exactly. There may be a physical reason why a tape couldn't be made and more likely the size of the case as the embossed area increased means a larger case would be required. Don't know, just some thoughts and comments.
