Maybe I'm missing something here but a dado isn't supposed to go all the way through the wood. Is it? If it goes all the way through you can just make 2 cuts with a regular blade. I know I must not understand what you are telling us.

When the blade height was increased it will not cut all of the way through the stock. To make it cut through I had to install a small backer board.
