Well David,

These saws have a longish handle protruding back like a knife handle. Both have
very fine teeth set pointing back at the user and they cut on the pull stroke.
this takes a little getting used to as you start the cut. The teeth are very
fine and the cut is incredibly smooth.

One has a stiff back intended largely for dove tail cutting. the other is
rather more flexible intended more for gently slicing off pins as in pinned
mortise and tenon joints.

I have used them to cut small notches out from the inside corner of 45 degree
reinforcement blocks where I don't want the corner to engage the 90 degree
corner and to flush cut one location where the reinforcement block point is a
little too long and protruded into the way of a drawer travel. So far that is it
however I will say that cutting on the draw stroke makes a much more easily
accurate cut. It is a little odd getting used to starting a cut by gently
pushing the saw away.

So far I haven't tried hand cutting dove tails. I think that without sight a
truly clean accurate dove tail would be difficult to do by hand. One of these
pull saws though might work well enough with a decent guide. I have a couple of
wooden guides I bought from RNIB about 40 years ago when I was living over
there and I remember trying with some hand tools when outfitting a small
tenement slum flat in West Ealing and though the joints turned out to be pretty
strong they weren't very pretty. I have a little more skill now and some time
when I have nothing else to do maybe I'll have another go.

For now I remain grateful that God made routers and jigs.
