I am guessing you are referring to the wooden or plastic box that has the two ends removed and various lots cut at 45 and 90 degree angles. A saw with a stiff back or a additional piece of metal along the top edge is to be used with these mitre boxes. They work fair if very little angle cutting is being done and absolute perfection is not required. Better than nothing, but not the best solution.
