My idea consists of capping the tines. I guess that might depend on how far
rusted down or how near rusted through they are. My rhinking is getting some
brass pipe of a size that just fits over the good part of the tine at the
bottom. If the fit is not real snug a bit of epoxy could be used to glue them.
The open upper ends of the pipe could be filled with epoxy. Seems like i have
saw this pipe at hobby shops or some hardware stores. There may be plastic
caps you could buy and epoxy them on the top. If the original tines are bent
as ours are they would have to be cut off so the brass pipe fit over a straight
piece. I have no idea how long this might last, guess a lot depends on the
dconditions in the rest of the rack.

If brass cannot be found I would check the fit of the solid plastic pipes used
for fill tubes on sinks and stools. Not real sure what the heat would do to
them, but pieces cut to length and epoxied over the rusty ones may work.

The problem with our dishwasher is that the points on the thynes that hold
the dishes in place are rusting away. We either need to figure out a way to
cap them or get a new rack or a new dishwasher. I'm hoping there's a
  practical way to fix them.

My wife uses Country time lemon crystals to clean the dishwasher with. Or
sugarless lemon aide Kool-aide. She does this about three times a year and
tells me it cleans up the inside of the dishwasher like new. She put some in
the soap dispenser and pours a package or two on the bottom of the
dishwasher and runs it through a wash cycle empty.

  Hi,

The prongs on the racks in our dishwasher are becoming pretty corroded. Is
there any way to fix that?

  Thanks,
  Ralph
