At least on the older ones, it can be difficult for a blind person to tell if 
the unit is charging.  They don't always lock on to the docking station right, 
and the only way to tell is by whether a light's on or not.  I think my wife 
just plugs a cable into the unit and doesn't bother with the docking station on 
the older model.
