Stephen, That is the beauty of it. my circle cutters all have a center
pilot hole. When I first cut the circles I can put a bolt through them and
fasten into the drill press for sanding or shaping. Then the center hole
will align the stock for cutting the inside circle which will later become
the coasters. I probably will have to make a third cut to cut them to the
correct size. And I will need a forstner bit to actually make the coaster.
As far as the hole in the coaster years ago at a craft show Karen picked up
a set of square coasters that stack on a rod. I also could use a smaller
forstner bit and make plugs. The wine bucket that I have stands about 7 1/2
inches tall. Other than cutting some blocks most of the work will be done on
the drill press. When assembled I can use the bolt to hold it upside down for
some final sanding.

Lenny:

I'll be interested in what folks have to say about the insolation factor,
but it sounds like a fun project. Aren't you though, going to have to drill
holes in those remaining circles you're going to use as coasters in order to
fit them on the rod for storage, and will they still work effectively with a
hole in the center?
