Have you ever felt up or seen    dowel pins in old barns whereas  mos 
of the  structural lumber was maybe  logs split in half and the bark 
is still on  them many many7 years later?  as a younger kid I had  
sight then and often though what work it must have been with a brace 
and bit to drill   perfect fitgtings for gowels  that would hold so 
much weight in a farm barn. . Or. did I see or feel  just pegs. that 
went all the way thru? Lee
