Your right on the radon gas issue, If there are cracks in the basement floor to my understanding there could be a possibility of radon. They claim a good sealant will stop this from happening. But this is hear say on my part. RJ ----- Original Message ----- From: Scott Howell To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, August 10, 2008 1:47 PM Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] Basement Questions?
Just curious, I've not heard about this in a while, but you have apparently some level of Raidon gas in a basement which suposedly can cause cancer or some such thing. My understanding is that some air should be allowed into the basement and sealing the thing completely would prevent this. So, is there any real truth in all this? Yes, I know I'm opening a can of worms perhaps, but I have a sump pit down here and I guess it's open letting any such gas in perhaps, but gee, I wonder if it's all that big a deal. I figure chances are I'll die of something else so why worry. grin On Aug 10, 2008, at 10:45 AM, RJ wrote: > It sounds like a dehumidifier is the first thing to consider.
