Yeah John, I thought about doing that as well. However, the drain hole is way
off on the side. Let me paint a picture.
Coming down the stairs you are facing a wall. To the right along the wall you
are facing is the patio door and fireplace and, in the far corner kitty corner
to you if you're standing at the foot of the stairs is a window.
If you turn right from the bottom of the stairs, on your right side is the
bathroom, a small bedroom and opposite the window in the far corner, a room
with a bar in it. Turn right into that room and on your left is a door leading
into a concrete and cinderblock room which contains the furnace and boiler and
water heater. IN that room is a drainhole.
My thought is that if I placed the dehumidifier in that room, it wouldn't get
air circulating in the rest of the basement since it's so far off the beaten
path. I suppose I could get a long hose, but that wouldn't be very cosmetic.
What do yall think?

Robert, my folks used a dehumidifier in their basement. For awhile,
they would empty the container that caught the water. then, they got
smart and just placed the unit over the floor drain.
