I'm thinking the problem is deeper. Her cold wash starts cold, her hot wash starts hot. So it can't be "water in the pipe is cold". thus though i agree with the rinse water part, I can't see the pipe reversal on the initial wash. I think there is a programming problem on the electronics that operates the valves.
