Ok, you all can call me crazy, but if you are that concerned about the plumbing of your coffee maker, it might be worth pulling it apart. I had a Krups at one time that seem to be making coffee at a slower rate than it had in the past. I decided that cleaning it with this and that wasn't doing the job. I took the bottom plate off and was lucky to find some rubber hoses. I pulled them off and ran a pipe cleaner through there and you wouldn't believe the crap that came out. It was really gross. Now, I have a different machine that we've had for about ten years or so now and I've never cleaned it in this manner. I have however always used filtered water which I honestly believe makes a difference. If your really concerned about the plumbing, I'd really take care in disassembling your machine and see what you find. Considering the water is boiling pretty much when it goes through, the only issue is really maybe some off-flavored coffee, but doubt you'd have any health concerns. Gee, just consider all those coffee pots at offices etc. that probably never see a real cleaning. grin On Nov 2, 2008, at 11:48 PM, Spiro wrote:
