Sorry, I don't understand. The water usually goes into a reservoir generally this at the rear of the coffee maker. The coffee usually goes into a sort of basket which inserts over the pot and under the spout. When the coffee maker is turned on a heating element warms the water which expands climbing a tube and then dribbling out over the basket containing the coffee which the hot water runs through and trickles into the pot beneath the basket. Coffee isn't put in the reservoir with the water. The only staining or scaling where the water goes should be residue from the water once the water is evaporated. Usually this will be mineral like lime or iron but sometimes can be particulate like chalk where the water is insufficiently filtered. The particulate may not dissolve in acid like vinegar but the mineral should. If she is seeing stains in the water reservoir they must be high, she might be better off to fill the reservoir with vinegar and leave it stand for several hours. She could heat it first a little to accelerate the chemical reaction and she could also run it through into the pot but recycle it once hot from the cycle. Don't run anything through the maker, instead you want a bit of bleach directly on the stains. Javex can work but you don't want to fill the pot with that, you could soak a rag or paper towel and lay it directly on the stain. Another thing that works pretty well is some cleanser, Comet or Ajax with just enough moisture to form a paste. Apply this directly to the stains and leave it sit for several hours then rinse thoroughly away. For most materials be very careful not to be scrubbing with the cleanser as that will scratch the surface and for ceramics this could lead to cracking. Rinse thoroughly, you don't want to be drinking bleach even well diluted. She still can see coffee residue when she looks inside. It is a Krups. She has it 3 years I asked her often she cleaned it and surprise, this is the first. It hadn't been used very munch until the past few weeks. I thought about getting some denture cleaning tablets to see if they would help. Many years ago, I actually read the instructions for cleaning my Black'n Decker unit. It said to fill the pot with vinegar as if making coffee. Run it through, let stand for 15 minutes, than run clean water through to remove any residue. Had this coffee maker for 17 years.
