I found some at Home Depot and can't recall the actual name, but what  
makes these nice is they are slid up under the first layer of shingles  
just a bit. THe lower lip snaps into the gutter leaving a slight edge  
hanging over. The thing that is pretty cool, is it has little slots  
all along the edge so the water runs in , but the leaves and other  
junk flows off the edge. THe only thing I'm not clear on is if you get  
a crap-load of snow, what would happen. I suspect it would not be an  
issue however.
