Dan,
Thank you very much for this information. Whenever you can get the brand name of your track, I would certainly appreciate it. Thanks again, Tom _____ From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dan Rossi Sent: Saturday, December 27, 2008 3:32 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [BlindHandyMan] Saw guide. Tom, I will have to ask my wife what the make/model of guide track I have for my circ saw. There are two tracks each is 50 inches long and about 5 inches wide. There is a raised hump in the middle of the top side of the track that corresponds to the slot in the plastic shoe that you attach to your circ saw shoe. On the bottom of the tracks are two T slots that run the length of the guide. There are clamps that you can slide into these slots to clamp the guide to your work piece. When you need to cut something longer than four feet, you connect the tracks end to end. There are T bars that fit into the T track on the underside of the guide. These T bars lock in place with flush-mounted set screws. A total of 8 set screws four in each bar, two at either end of each bar. When locked together, I have found the system to be quite rigid. Of course, you pay the price in having to torque and untorque all eight set screws whenever you want to connect or disconnect the guides. So when they are connected together you have a guide that is 100 inches long. It is a pretty nice setup. -- Blue skies. Dan Rossi Carnegie Mellon University.
