Well if you have money to burn, Festool is supposed to be the Cadillac of power tools. Their saw is an 8 inch and as far as I know the only plunge saw on the market right now. You line it up start the motor and push down on the saw to run the blade through the wood.
Some impressive features, but starting in the $600 range it should let you tell it the measurements and cut it for you... ----- Original Message ----- From: Dan Rossi To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, December 29, 2008 8:13 PM Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] Circ saws. Interesting, While groping up a number of saws this evening, only two had a trigger lock-out. I can certainly see the safety in it, but like many safety features, they have some disadvantages. I'll have to take a look at a couple of others. I am thinking that the worm drive is probably not worth the extra weight and cash. I saw saws with amp ratings from 10 to 15 amps. I know I have stalled my own saw a couple of times, probably my bad, but am thinking a bit more power could be useful. -- Blue skies. Dan Rossi Carnegie Mellon University.
