You can't really glue to drywall. That's what it sounds like you want to do.

Is the mail shoot one of those with a spring loaded flap that goes through a
door and the mail ends up on the floor? Or is the shoot cut through the wall?

I'm having a little trouble with the mental picture and it's hard to suggest
anything until I'm clearer on that.

We have an old sort of mail schute that ends in a wooden frame with a door
you lift on hinges to extract the mail. I noticed today that the frame is
sort of detaching itself from the plaster wall it's mounted on. It's not
apparent to me how it was affixed in the first place, I can't find screws or
other fasteners. I guess I can put some glu on it and hope for the best,
though my gluing skills are pretty lacking as in I tend to use too much.
What would be a good glu to use? I have the basic Elmers, and I believe
some carpenter's glu as well along with construction adhesive.

  Thanks for any thoughts.
