Dan, I have a mobile base that I purchased at the Grizzly store. It has the
neatest way to lock the base in place. There are feet that you lower which
raises the wheels so when the feet are down that is what it rests upon. When
the feet are raised the wheels make contact. It is very interesting the way
that the feet work. Picture a tube with a foot placed in the bottom and at
the top a threaded part that is turned up or down. There is a magnet between
the threaded part and the foot so when you turn the threaded part the foot
does not turn but the magnet will pull the foot up away from the floor.

Subject: [BlindHandyMan] mobile bases

Bob,

You bring up an excellent point about tools VS space. I will most likely
have to put everything up on mobile bases to be able to shuffle things
around my imaginary future shop.

I have never seen a mobile base in action. How do you lock / unlock, the
casters? Or do they raise up an inch then lower back down after you
position it?

If the casters lock, how stable is the tool when working on it?

With the way my basement floor is sloped, I may need to do something to
level it out, otherwise, large, heavy pieces of equipment on wheels may be
chasing me around the shop.
