So, Tom's question started me looking a little deeper. Firstly, I was mistaken on the actual name of the device, it is a kill-a-watt, not a KiloWatt.
Secondly, if you feel like dropping some change, like $150 you can get a much more sophisticated device, TED, the Energy Detective. Not absolutely sure, but I think you put it on the circuit breaker box and it detects the current through each circuit and transmits the data to another base unit, which is plugged into an outlet. You can connect the base unit to your PC and it does data logging. Here is the interesting thing. I was worried at first, since it talks about all kinds of fancy charts, but then one little comment said that all the logging is done in CSV, which means it should be pretty damn accessible. Well, the data is accessible, how you parse the data which is collected every second, is up to you. No idea if the other charting functions are accessible or not.
