Bob,they now have some units that sit on a roller stand and use an exhaust hose. I saw an 11,000btu unit the otherday for about $400. It is designed to roll into any room and you exhaust bia hose. I have no other information on the unit. A window unit doesn't have an exhaust hose to start with. You won't hurt the unit by placing it inside a room, you just won't gain anything from it being there.
