Claudia:
First off, I think I would please ask my father if he could make for sure that
all the pipes were tight under your sink and once this is accomplished. I
would go to the hardware store and ask for something called Liquid Fire. Poor a
very small amount down your drain and see if this solves your issue. Be sure,
absolutely sure not to use this if the pipes are not tightened up and there is
any leakage from under your sink. As this stuff is primarily acid. Also make
sure that when used your exhaust fan in your bathroom is also on. And that
there are no children or pets around. And that you vacate the room for about 10
to 15 minutes after using. And that the drain is thuraly washed out afterwords.
For most of all my drain issues this will and has solved my issues.

  Subject: [BlindHandyMan] My Bathroom Sink!

  Okay,

So, my bathroom sink hasn't been draining properly, for quite some time now.
When we brush our teeth, wash our hands, etc., the water goes down very,
  very slowly!
So, I finally caught my dad on his day off today, and he came to see if he
could fix it for us! He did a few things. First, he took off the elbow
underneath the sink, but he couldn't really see any blockages. Then, he ran
a hose from downstairs to the sink, creating water pressure. When he did
this, the water was going down fine.
However, the pipe that leads from the sink and turns downward to the floor
and into the basement is very short; there is no room to put something in
there, to try to unstop the drain.
  So, he was unsuccessful.
  I
don't know if I'm explaining this correctly, but our drain issue has still
not been resolved, and now since the valves have been loosened, the pipes
  underneath the sink are leaking.

What kind of thing could I use to get in there and see what's causing the
blockage? My dad says that we may need to cut away a portion of wall
underneath the sink, near the pipe, to get at the issue.

I hate this, especially I have no man to help me out with this stuff this
  summer!
