Well wife Janet and daughter Chrystal left about ten this morning for Wasaga
Beach near Collingwood where they will spend a week with daughter Angela and
her husband Eric and year old son Andrew. Janet comes back next Monday with
Angela and Andrew.

I finally finished busting up the cement steps after about 21 hours wrestling
with that damn jack hammer. I can't imagine doing that for a living, it is a
real man killer. Admittedly I am pushing 60 and only a little fellow of about a
hundred and fifty pounds still, that beggar nearly got the better of me. I
haven't barrowed all the debris to the lane yet, I was pleased enough to put
the monster onto it's trolley along with the chisels in preparation for return
to the rental shop. The neighbour we went out to rock-&-roll with Saturday
night has agreed to haul it back. I was fortunate to get the week-end rate for
a three day long week-end, 75 bucks. Once I recover from the pain of it all I
should have muscles on my muscles.

I have the first truck load of masonry arriving tomorrow some time around noon
and a dentist appointment at three to have a pair of front crowns replaced at 3
o'clock so arranged on Friday to have the day off tomorrow. Mostly I am getting
retaining wall stones some of which I will divert to this stairs project rather
than chance another subsiding poured block of concrete. I can always
disassemble and reassemble if it moves again. The rest of the pavers and curb
stones will come probably next week but Janet and Angela should be about by
then to direct him where to unload them. I wish he could lift the retaining
wall stones to the upper lawn over the hedge. I'll have to tell Janet it is for
the benefit of her health to give her some additional exercise.

I've ground some coffee ready for turning on in the morning, tonight I had the
smoked ribs left over from what I smoked for supper Saturday night, the dishes
are done and the stereo is blasting some ACDC to keep me going but I am off up
stairs to a shower, a wee dram of Glenn Livet single malt Scotch whiskey and a
good sleep.

By the way, I am using the big old construction wheelbarrow to move the debris
to the back lane. It is too heavy really but the four wheeled barrow is full of
sand and I didn't want to dump that just at this time.
