Hi Dale and everyone
Thanks for your messages on this. I have the estate agent coming round on Wednesday and will take his opinion too on which areas would be best attended to in terms of painting. Thanks Ian. Not all sighted people are good painters and apparently many of those who think they are good are not. Because you want to paint for the improved appearance of your home I strongly recommend you leave that to someone who can see that there are no sags or runs in the paint, that the grime or colour under the new paint is completely covered and so on. Even things like grime or crayon marks or any other grease need to be well washed off and gone if the job is to be good. If it is a poor paint job then the buyer will only figure to budget in the cost to paint over. Actually the main reason to paint if selling is to brighten it up and make it appear clean. Most people won't like your choice of colour and will be considering the cost of painting over the dull or uninteresting paint you just put on. ----- Original Message ----- From: Ian Beverley To: blindhandyman@ <mailto:blindhandyman%40yahoogroups.com> yahoogroups.com Sent: Saturday, September 05, 2009 4:05 PM Subject: [BlindHandyMan] Painting Hi all Firstly, I'm new to the list. I'm Ian and from the UK. I wonderif anyone could help me with some hints and tips. I'm currently clearing my house o try and sell it. There are certain parts of the house that need painting. I don't have a big enough budget to bring someone in to do this and will have to wait some time to try and get this doneby a friend. I would like to get on with doing it myself, but would like to know if anyone out there has painted walls/rooms before; especially if you are totally blind? I'll leave this open for now, but can give more specific details o what needs to be done later. Many thanks Ian.
