I have actually  had the unit sitting next to the main unit and same thing
happens. Again, this is only recent so what's changed?

    My guess is that these units are trying to work at the limits of there
  wireless range. If possible get the two units closer together for a while
  and see if it helps.

  We have a non-talking similar unit and it has the same kinds of issues. We
  got sick of it and gave up. I think the low power vs range isues just
ain't
  solved properly yet.
