Yeah, a big thing is the battery terminals. They are very touchy and lose connection a lot. Also, I had a brand new one sitting in the box I was waiting to use for this particular project. This did not involve saw dust or anything, and within an hour or so, it started screwing up measurements. Sometimes you'll take a measurement, and then pull the tape back in, and it will announce 5231 feet or some insain measurement like that. I have had a lot of these things and all of them have done it at one time or another.

Or at least mine does. It will say something like 2,123 inches, or minus 400 inches. It makes me suspicious of it sometimes. Mine has the tendency to not speak until you hit the button a few times, and often will not shut up but repeats a measurement over and over. I will say though, that after I sent it back to the U K because of a loose battery terminal, it does behave a bit better than it used to. Sounds like the double a version does everything the Cobolt does except for the volume. I might give it a spin. -- Blue skies. Dan Rossi Carnegie Mellon University.
