I believe the one from Germany is made by Bosch.

Not true, there is anothertalking tape I believe made in Germany which is
similar
but uses 2 AA batteries and has lower quality speech.
Also has some differences in operation but it's nearly a knockoff.
More expensive i believe and I've no reason to believe it would be any more
reliable.
So much for competition improving quality! Another capitalist myth goes down
