Hello and Merry Christmas. I received a click rule for one of my gifts. I don't understand the design of the tool. Under the knob there is a piece of metal that sticks down about a half inch or more. Near the other end there is also a flat piece of metal that is about 1/8 inch. Because of the difference it is impossible to set it level on a surface.
