That is what I did but I like the 1/2 inch chuck much better. If I ever need large bits I can quickly go back. The power twist link belt, well I can not say enough about that. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill Gallik" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, March 20, 2010 6:25 PM Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] drill press upgrade
Lenny, OK, I thought that perhaps being able to firmly deploy smaller bits just might be the focus of "upgrade" in this case. What I've personally done to resolve this problem is to have a "secondary" smaller chuck (actually a 3/8" chuck) threaded onto an appropriately threaded bolt with the head of that bolt cut off to provide a shank that I can deploy into my larger chuck. Yes, this means I may have two chucks on the press when using smaller bits, but that doesn't seem to be much of a problem. And being that drill bits of greater shank diameter are usually much longer than the shorter bits, there is plenty of room for this "double chuck" configuration. -------- Holland's Person, Bill E-Mail: [email protected] - "A person reveals his character by nothing so clearly as the joke he resents." - German Aphorist, Georg Christoph Lichtenberg (1742 - 1799) ------------------------------------ Send any questions regarding list management to: [email protected] To listen to the show archives go to link http://www.acbradio.org/pweb/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=33&MMN_position=47:29 Or ftp://ftp.acbradio.org/acbradio-archives/handyman/ The Pod Cast address for the Blind Handy Man Show is. http://www.acbradio.org/news/xml/podcast.php?pgm=saturday Visit The Blind Handy Man Files Page To Review Contributions From Various List Members At The Following address: http://www.jaws-users.com/JAWS/handyman/ Visit the archives page at the following address http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ If you would like to join the JAWS Users List, then visit the following address for more information: http://www.jaws-users.com/ For a complete list of email commands pertaining to the Blind Handy Man list just send a blank message to: [email protected]!
