I'm anxious to hear the answer to that myself Jeff.
Let it be know though that there are several Stanley Family Cemetaries
in
Virginia and one in Harlan. I'm very familiar with the
one in Rosehill, VA.
My Grandparents and those beyond, are buried there.
As will I be one day if the Lord tarries.
<smile> I'm from the "Dad's"
side.
.... I actually wish someone would write a book on what
the
men went through putting in the railroad tracks. Gosh, that
was decades ago.
My Dad has some stories and pictures of "Stanley Section
Gangs". Who,
obviously, were all family either by blood or marriage.
It's all very interesting. I know my Great-Grandfather
Samual Stanley
is in several pictures with men kinfolk all around the
tracks.
It's history in the making.
I love my roots. And I loved Ralph at the Fox Theater in
Michigan recently.
He brought toe-tapping and clogging to Detroit of all places. I
was proud.
And I can say firsthand that "Stanley" does mean proud, determined,
strong,
insightful and innovative. (and did I mention stubborn?!)
And I thank Dr.Ralph, <grin>, for shining some more Pride on
our name.
We come from good stock,
no matter where that stock's buried.
