Lol... isn't that the truth.
I always seem to giggle all the way thru "Pig in the Pen". Can't help
it.
And you're right, it only takes a trigger to bring back some
good flashbacks that we've tucked away.
For those interested and close,
Harlan County is starting their 50th Poke Sallet Festival today
thru
Sunday. There will be some
good ole' musicians who bring their music down from their porches
(silly
songs included, I'm sure), good
food and beautiful Mountains (Black Mtn & Kingdom Come).
We can't forget the crazy Ridge
Runners who trek their beefed up (and muddy) ATV's across anything
they can climb over. .... and watch out for bears
since they're high in numbers up thar.
In my humble opinion, the most
interesting to me is the Kentucky Coal Museum in Benham (who will
also
be hosting a "hillbilly dinner")
and Portal # 31 and Depot for those who want to get a look and feel
of
the coal mines and brave,
hardworking miners. (who don't appreciate scabs.... Lol
).
We hope to make it thru on
Saturday, Lord willing, on our way to South Carolina. I just love those
ole'
timers who also hammer their banjers and those who'll
make ya' whirl with their fiddle & strings. It's at
Festivals like this one that we've heard songs that....
trigger us into precious memories.
Anyway, if you're close and you've
got the time.... go have some fun, Harlan Style. <grins>
Have a good day,
