OK, but a single webserver is a somewhat different than a VPS host. I was pointing out that for the average BX system 16GB RAM is likely far more than necessary. Although it is possible to have the 32-bit kernel address the RAM, some 32-bit modules (ie: Apache) may not make as efficient use (if they make any use at all) of the large RAM. On a simple BX webserver (standalone, we were not talking virtualized), even one that does considerable traffic, my experience tells me that 4GB is usually plenty, and I wouldn't sink more than 8GB into it. The performance won't be impacted. Then again, I'd also never pick a power-hog dual quad-core as a simple web hosting system, either. Hosting VPS's... that's another story altogether! -- Chris Gebhardt VIRTBIZ Internet Services Access, Web Hosting, Colocation, Dedicated www.virtbiz.com | toll-free (866) 4 VIRTBIZ _______________________________________________ Blueonyx mailing list [email protected] http://www.blueonyx.it/mailman/listinfo/blueonyx
