      Left must apologise
The Pioneer Edit Desk
http://www.dailypioneer.com/indexn12.asp?main_variable=EDITS&file_name=edit2%2Etxt&counter_img=2
Readers would easily recall that the New Year began with an unholy diatribe
launched by Communist Party of India (Marxist) member of the Rajya Sabha, Ms
Brinda Karat, against one of the most revered yoga and ayurveda experts of
contemporary India, Acharya Ram Dev, in which she accused his enterprise, Divya
Yoga Pharmacy, of adulterating medical prescriptions with human and animal
bones. For weeks thereafter, the Left-led chorus degenerated into calumny and
worse, all of which was geared towards a single objective: To run the
indigenous science of ayurveda and yoga down, and to proclaim its exponents and
practitioners as a bunch of ill-informed, unscientific right-wing
reactionaries.

There was another subtext as well: If you want to guard your health, steer
clear of such "charlatans". Not surprisingly, there were clashes between Left
cadres and the followers of Acharya Ram Dev and the entire country erupted in
protests since the people felt the Communists had affronted their belief in the
time-honoured tradition of ayurveda. It must, therefore, have been to the
considerable chagrin and embarrassment of the Leftists that, far from
witnessing a swelling of their ranks in their charge against the indigenous
system of medicine as they might have expected, even the Central Government
that depends on their support for survival, thought it fit to call their bluff
by insisting that Acharya Ram Dev's ashram conformed to good laboratory
practices. Now, test results at the Delhi-based Sri Ram Institute of Industrial
Research as well as Uttaranchal Government recognised institute at Hardwar have
established the point beyond all contention: There is no trace of animal or
human parts in the ayurvedic medicines manufactured by the Divya Yoga
Pharmacy. This leaves no room for doubt that Ms Karat and her party were
seeking to gain propaganda points against what they perceive as their true
class enemy: The Hindu faith. Their attempt to turn India's millions to the
Left's one true secular god, Karl Marx, has thus fallen flat on its face and Ms
Karat and her comrades would do well to apologise to Acharya Ram Dev whose
reputation they had assiduously sought to tarnish.

It has, since the controversy broke out, transpired that Ms Karat was
misled by a handful of disgruntled workers at Divya Yoga Pharmacy, Hardwar, who
had been handed "pink slips". How far was it justified on her part to indulge
in character assassination of the Acharya based on nothing but cockamamie
peddled by axed employees of the pharmacy? Indeed, the Left's infantile jibes
at Acharya Ram Dev were symptomatic of deracinated self-proclaimed
intellectuals who see nothing right in their own, living tradition and seek,
instead, to graft their violent and constitutionally unstable credo - that is
itself a product of deep-rooted arrogance laced with cynicism - into a
historically stable society. Not surprisingly, the Indian Left has never been
able to spread its wings beyond two or three States. To the vast masses across
the subcontinent-sized India, it is the Communist ideology that smacks of an
adulteration of the disagreeable kind.

conquest of life by the power of the spirit." - Aurobindo.

Naxalism is a tough problem. It is tougher than terrorism because
the people involved are our own. Only long term solution to this problem is
development and increasing oppurtunities for employment.
I don't know y people take up arms which is more difficult than
simply try to get self-employment. Right now I am not quite aware of the
real issues concerning naxalism and would like others to provide some
contribution.

Hello friends, in a book I found what Swami Vivekananda thought
that we can uplift the lives of our countrymen by using some amount of
rajas. One of the reasons for the backwardness of Indians is that most
of the people are in Tamas as compared to Japan where inactiveness is a
crime.
I always has one question in mind, which is better, IDEALISM or
PRAGMATISM.
Mahatma Gandhi was an idealist, we all know. Nehru was pragmatic.
I once read a quote, "Live like Ram, but act like Krishna". I
guesses its meaning to be that we should live a idealistic life, but
while working we should not be too much idealistic because we have to
work with other peoples although a basic core of principles should be
there while working also.

Hello sir,
Although I can't claim to know much in this matters but I will
try. In hindu religion different people have been divided on the basis of
there gunas. Tamas - this guna is predominant in people who are inactive and
don't take charge of there lives.
Rajas - these are the people full of passion and restlessness and are very
ambitious.
sattvic - this are the people who are very calm. Equinamity is there
hallmark.

Now, if you look at the west for eg. Britain. To make there people
brave , they say "Be British". We never say "Be Indian".

They have made their people ambitious , ambitious to achieve more
and more. There is a philosophy in the west that "every person is for
himself". In east emphasis has been given on family values, working for the
community.

There were different effects of these philosophies for eg. west
become great in material power, absorbed in work but they had little
happiness and were never contented.

East become happy, but most of the work here was useless, marriage
processions, birth ceremonies, etc. I mean instead of working for the family
and the community, we started to work for showing off in the community.

This is the problem with idealistic approach. This was one of the
problem with communism. This was one of the problems with non-alligned
movement. Without becoming strong, showing morality is always
foolishness. Even a person as humble as our president APJ Abdul Kalam
developed missiles. There is no voice of weak.

Now, India is on the track of economic growth although not in its
true potential. One of the reason is that due to liberalisation we become
more ambitious, started spending which allowed economy to boom.

What I want to say is, it is very difficult to make all the people
to work for the country but we can make people contribute in the growth of
economy by making them spend, by making them more and more ambitious to
attain riches. Instead of saying "garibi hatao" y not say "amiri badao". Y
not say we want more and more billionaires. Instead of lamenting on the
rich-poor divide y not help these poors to attain riches. Yah greed is bad
but inaction is worst and India need food and gold right now , not religion
and spirituality. Yah we will bring spiritual revolution side by side but
for those people who are in inaction first bring passion to them. This is
what I meant by using rajas .

A great man has said that India is going to win the world by love.
Don't know what are the exact words. We can do it first of becoming
strongest. As we all know Unites States of America has failed in this
regard.

Dear Rajneeshji,
We appreciate your time and effort in doing good discussion. You have
brough a good change in discussion that people are able to see message in
different labguages. I hope it will help in maintaining in unity in
diversity of group. But this being free discussion forum and we do not have
any policy to restrict message size, we cannot ask Mr. Jagnnathji about not
posting or things like that. We think you appreciate free discussion.
Generally people ignore messages, which either they cannot understand or
have no use of.

Dear Jagannathji,
We appreciate the concerns of society you bring up. But please think, what
difference it would make, if audience is not able to follow and come to
certain conclusion. It will be better if mails are more effective in driving
to the point. Please make the group clearly understand what you want to say.
Today's world is of information age and people are overloaded with
information. To get through information to audience one has to be effective.

Dear All,
We hope the discussions will continue and more importantly will contribute
to mission "The Rise of a Great Nation". We also suggest members of this
group to make use forums http://www.bharatudaymission.org/forum. Its
categorized place and people can use it as per their preferences. It will
also save mail-boxes. It is easy to use. Please let us know any difficulty
you find in using it.

Thanks and Regards,
