Dear friend,

After the recent terror attack on Mumbai, the Indian ruling establishment
has used it to brush all issues of local terrorism under the carpet. Not
only that, they have used the terror attack to cement their ties with the
world's biggest terrorist states, USA and Israel. Taking advantage of the
shock created by the terror attack, they have passed yet another draconian
anti-terror law very similar to POTA.

LOKAYAT is organising a seminar to discuss these and other issues related to
terrorism. It is a very important seminar in which some of the best activist
intellectuals have agreed to participate. We are sending this invitation to
you early so that you can plan and join us for this seminar.

*SEMINAR:*

*UNDERSTANDING THE ROOTS OF TERRORISM
*

*Speakers: *
*Praful Bidwai *(journalist and political analyst, Delhi)
*Prashant Bhushan* (renowned Supreme Court Advocate, Delhi)
*Prof. Imtiaz Ahmad* (renowned political scientist, Delhi)

*Date: *25 January, 2009
*Time: *10 am - 5.30 pm
*Venue:* Lokayat Hall, Opp. Syndicate Bank, Law College Road, Near Nal Stop,
Pune.

Lunch will be served to all participants. We are proposing to keep a nominal
registration fee of Rs. 25 towards expenses and lunch for all who wish to
participate. I hope this is acceptable to all.

As a follow up of this seminar, we are organising a

*HUMAN CHAIN
to
CONDEMN ALL FORMS OF TERRORISM
*

*on the Republic Day, January 26,
at SHANIWARWADA, PUNE
from 10 to 11 am. *

Do join us for this too, to show your solidarity to all oppressed of the
world, who are heroically fighting back as the valiant Palestinians are
doing.

The LOKAYAT HALL has a limited seating capacity of 150. dO confirm your
participation if you wish to attend just in case the hall overflows. It will
also enable us to organise things better.
