Greetings and welcome to the disorienting netherworld that is the holiday
timewarp!
We've got a great JRS for you today, including a few opportunities to work
for/with the Man! Yep, we need some good communicators and graphic designers.

Beyond that, we've got your usual smattering of news, writings, video, pretty

Aaaaand ... preliminary ticket information for Burning Man 2014! Yesss!
Lastly, anticipating your burning question (har!), we don't have any
announcements about the art theme for Burning Man 2014 yet. But hang tight!
We'll have the goods for you in a soooon-to-come JRS.

PRELIMINARY 2014 TICKETING INFO
We know you've been awaiting information about tickets for Burning Man 2014,
but the plan hasn't been finalized. Why the delay? We haven't finalized
agreements with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for the 2014 permit.
So while we don't have all of the details, here's some info to help you plan:
1) There will be a Pre-Sale, but it will not happen until mid-January. As in
the past, this sale will only offer the highest priced tickets.
2) The full ticketing plan for 2014 will be announced in early January on
tickets.burningman.com
3) While details are still pending, our intention is to repeat the basic
process and structure from 2013: all of our ticket sales will require
pre-registration through the Burner Profile system, there will be a Pre-Sale, a
Directed Group Sale, an Individual Sale, a late-season OMG Sale, and we will
again offer the Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP) and our Low Income Ticket
Program. We are also striving to keep ticket prices as in line with 2013 as
possible. While all of this is still subject to final changes, know that this
is our aim.
In December of 2012 the Pre-Sale designated a percentage of the income to the
nonprofit Burning Man Project. By not having this sale in December of 2013
we're missing the opportunity to make this useful year-end donation to the
Project. The leadership of the LLC are in the final stages of negotiating and
completing the transaction that will make Black Rock City, LLC a subsidiary of
the Project. Now more than ever the Project needs your support. Please consider
making a donation to the Project as you look at your year-end contributions.

BURNING MAN SEEKING INTERNS FOR WINTER/SPRING 2013-2014
Two exciting internships offer opportunities to engage with Burning Man’s
Communications Department and Regional Network during winter/spring 2013-2014.
Internships require a high level of organization, acute attention to detail and
deadlines, top-notch written and verbal communication skills and a keen ability
to think quickly and function well in a high-pressure, creative environment
that is often chaotic but always a lot of fun.
PLEASE NOTE: In order to be eligible interns MUST be receiving official school
credit. Prior to beginning an internship with Burning Man, candidates must
provide written proof that credit will be received from the relevant
educational institution.

CREATE INSPIRING GRAPHIC DESIGN FOR BURNING MAN!
Have you always wanted to have a design considered for an official Burning Man
project, but didn't know how? Have you been dying to share your deep love of
typography and clean design with the larger Burning Man community? Well, this
is your opportunity to throw your hat in the ring. If you're an experienced
graphic designer brimming with innovative, visually rivetting ideas, get in
touch with us! We're looking for folks with experience in the following areas:
web design and UI/UX, identity development, and strategic visual
communications, print design and illustration, to name a few. We have several
projects throughout the year for which we have calls for submissions, and we'd
love to include you for consideration.

Also, describe any unique photos that aren't published on Flickr, and if
possible, send us a photo of yourself or someone who would appear in your
photos.
Lastly, include your mailing address. If we have your camera we will send it to
you; we just ask that after you receive your package, you reimburse us the cost
of postage.

Crowdfunding: Trends in the Sharing Economy
The sharing economy is taking off – whether it’s peer-to-peer rentals, skill
sharing, crowdfunding, ridesharing or unused parking spots. Spawned by a
confluence of the economic crisis, environmental concerns, and the social web
coming of age, the sharing economy is quickly becoming the hottest trend in
economic paradigms.
We in the Burning Man community are particularly interested in the dynamics and
the future of the sharing economy, since it reflects our principles of gifting,
communal effort, civic responsibility and decommodification.
Please join us for a panel discussion focused specifically on the future of
crowdfunding, one of the fastest-developing areas in the sharing economy. We
will explore the role it plays in creative community development, and how it’s
