According to the page the car is in the US. If I remember the article on the importation of that F1 in R&T into the US, Ameritech did it so all the extra ugly crap was easily removeable, which is what any owner would do right away, I am sure. I sure would. The previous owner obviously babied this one. However, it did not have an owners' manual or any other information when I purchased it. I have been learning how to use the various gadgets and unique functions of the 528e, such as the dashboard computer. Searching the Internet has answered most questions. However, I have one problem that has me scratching my head and thought I would ask for advice from the more experienced owners: The power windows have a problem or an "abnormality" in them. When I purchased the car all the power windows worked fine. A few days later, I went to open one window and found it was inoperative. In fact, all four of the windows were completely inoperative. It was evening so I said "I'll look at it tomorrow in the daylight." However, the next day they operated fine! Today, I went to open a window and all four windows are inoperative again. Apparently there is no power being applied to any of the power window motors. There is no noise whatsoever, pressing a window button results in total silence. The windows don't even move a fraction of an inch. The fuse is good and apparently all other electrical devices are operating normally (as far as I know). I searched the archives but could find no mention of all four windows failing simultaneously. Do I have to start tracing wiring or is there any "frequent problem"? Any guesses what I should look for? Thanks. - Dick Eastman ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 1 Feb 2000 20:24:39 -0800 (PST) From: Carlos Lopez <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [uuc] Re: OT Snow Vehicles and lousy tires Matthew Yip wrote: >I haven't been stuck in my latest of snow vehicles either. Looks more like a rectangular button, if popped, orange will show around outside edge. Mine is of course zip tied up to the underside of the dash, along with all the other junk that BMW brilliantly mounted to the dash panel, since the dash panel is in the trunk. When shifting, the engine RPM "hangs" wherever it was when I let up on the gas. While this makes every shift a power shift, it gets annoying when trying to be smooth about it. I've seen other cars (notably an early RX7 I had a long time ago) do this in the early days of emission controls, but am surprised to see it on a modern car. The only way to really match the RPM on an upshift is a very exaggerated "granny" shift. I've been driving manual-trans cars for 25 years, so I don't think it's cockpit error. Is this normal? Is there a "fix"? Do any of the aftermarket "reprogramming" efforts change this? Other than this I've been having a great time with the car - my first experience with BMW.
