The flare wrench rounded off the fitting and heat/vice grips was the only thing that finally worked. Boy, I hate removing old brake lines. SD>>>>> All things being equal, it's easier to cut the line at the joint and use a socket, because usually you get one chance with the wrench, whereas the socket (6 point please) increases the odds. Otherwise, it's off to get the vice grips, in which case you're going to replace the line anyway. Clearly, there may be times when you need to save the line, but I'd rather bend up a new one than argue with a stripped pipe fitting. The typical Rice-Boy can be identified by his car, or rather what he does to it. Generally, Rice-Boy will start out with a car that was not meant to go fast (typically a Honda Civic), and attempt to "fix it up," usually consisting of aftermarket rims, lowering springs and an aftermarket exhaust system with a large exhaust tip. Most Rice-Boy cars (or "Rice Rockets") have the usual complement of stickers proudly displaying features that the car might or might not have, most notably, the Honda VTEC sticker from the later model Preludes, and the plaques from the later model Integras. Rice-Boys do not exclusively drive Japanese cars. There are quite a few fake Mustang '5.0's and Camaro Z28's out there, as well as quite a few strange looking Neons. >--- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: >> it offends me when people refer to Asian descended people or >> owners of >> Japanese autos as "riceboy". several of my friends are Asian and >> they are >> "top notch". ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Feb 2000 09:50:42 -0500 (EST) From: Kevin Henry <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [uuc] Re: coloured wheels > I seem to recall some orange wheels at Pizzafest II. I asked about reserving and E46 M3. Any leads on who could the contract wording for my co-worker? He is in the Detroit Area. Thanks. Neil Deshpande 1988 325 iS 1989 325 iC *** If they can get a favorable position on a list (in the first say 3-5 cars delivered to dealer) then they might want to go the non-refundable route & get a signed agreement with the dealer. as long as they word the agreement correctly, they can then transfer (sell) their spot in line to someone else & lose nothing. I'm sure that someone on the list can suggest a resource to get a contract/agrement drawn up for the car at MSRP, as your friend wants it. there is really nothing to lose in a situation where they have a binding contract for the car at MSRP w/o added dealer mark-ups. the dealer will be making ~$5,700 on a $50k car w/13% mark-up, so they are making their money even at MSRP, so gouging for "market adjustment" or floor mats & such is just BS. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Feb 2000 10:10:46 -0500 From: "Grant Low" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [uuc] Oktoberfest preparations Steven and Steven discussing the O'fest pages: > >Am I the only one who can't read the text on the inside o'fest pages? > >http://www.oktoberfest2000.org for those who don't know. > > You're not alone there. > Are you both using Netscape? It's hardly like the dealer would have any trouble selling the car to someone else if your friend backed out. There is a possibility that once the color/spec has been determined that some uniquely rancid choices could make the car less saleable, but even this is pretty unlikely. Also find out when (and if) they plan to cash the check. It just seems to me that unless the dealer can show they lost a sale or it cost them money then it's pretty bogus to make it non-refundable - but of course they do it to stop frivolous orders and to (rightly) frighten off the unsure. I think your friend should give them the money and tell them his doubts about the price, and make the order contingent on the price being below $xk. Also, if the 540 he'd be getting would be from them, I can't believe they'd have a problem transferring the deposit to a different car.
