Horsepucky. If you got those kinda problems - you're tailgating.. Can you count to 3? Let the car in front of you pass a stationary object - count 1-1000, 2-1000, 3-1000.. if *you* got to the stationary object before the 3-1000 - you're tailgating. You deserve all the stone dings and windshield chips the habit gives'ya. I *hate* tailgaters - especially when I'm on the real-BMW (two wheeled one).. where their lack of attention (usually tailgating is combined with coffee drinking, cell-phone-talking - your usual self-centered SOB's of both sexes) could spoil my day in a big way. Ok...so in freshman year of HS, I had a crush for this girl who didn't even know I existed. Well, I was more into my R/C car and playing softball with the guys than maintaining my appearance, so my wardrobe was a little lacking. Now she being who she was made comments on the stuff I wore. Looking back, yes...I did look like a FOB..even though I was born here! I had cloth pants that had puffy pockets on the sides, white sneakers, stupid t-shirts with even more stupid prints on them (like "Pacific Coast Highway"), and I had coke bottles for glasses. Yes, those glasses were quite embarassing. It turns out that my eyes weren't pointed straight ahead and I had to wear these prisms in the glasses to bend the light so that I would see straight. These things measured at least 1/2" thick as seen from the side. (I eventually discovered that when I wore contacts, I had this phenomenon called peripheral fusion that would align my eyes...so all is well now...thank you very much). Anyway, this girl was very critical. She said, "Oh, I can't believe you wear sneakers." Blah, blah, blah. So one day, I go on a shopping rampage and I buy several different colors of slacks and I bought a pair of Dockers shoes. Herin lies another funny story. All the cool kids wore "Docs" (a.k.a. Doctor Martins), but I mistook that lingo for "Dockers"....DOH! So I bought a pair of $80 worthless (in terms of trauling for chicks) shoes that I would soon ditch as soon as I found out what "Docs" really meant. Ha ha. So on the rainy Monday after my shopping spree, I meet up with this girl and her sister (more like tag along) and walked them from the school to the subway station all decked out in a pair of navy blue slacks and the brown Dockers shoes(I didn't say I had any sense of color coordination...). Now, she just happened to live a few blocks from me so we would take the same train together. As we're decending the staircase, I see the Q train (express train) is already in the station with the doors open. My sweetheart sez, "Oh...the Q train....oh, but the doors are going to close..." I, being quite the athlete, decide to jump over the handrail onto the platform so that I avoid the rush of people going up the stairs and hold the door until little cutie and her sister make it to the door. So in one swift motion, I grab the handrail and proceed to hoist the side of my body over the railing using my foot to catapult me off the handrail. ....when I feel the brand new shoe that I wore to impress her, being wet from the rain...slip off the handrail...causing me to nosedive onto the subway platform. *SPLAT* face first onto the floor. Cries of, "Oh my God...look at what he did," or, "Oh my God, are you alright?," can be heard all around me. "No mam, the blood was there originally," I think to myself. Not quite as graceful as I intended, I stumble to get on my feet and not forgetting my original intention, I hold the door open. Miss cutie sez, "Oh, we don't want to go on this train...we're waiting for our mother. Are you alright? Why did you do that?" ....DOH! ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! I got a generic 4-wire O2 sensor from Steve D'G. I cut the old and new to splice the old connector with the new sensor, but the wires are different. In the old, #1 is gray, #2 black, #3 and #4 white. In the new, #1 is black, #2 and #3 are white, and #4 is gray. Do I connect #1 with #1 or black with black? I'm assuming that black is ground and I'd want to connect the colors. Can someone tell me for sure ASAP, since my car is up on jackstands now and I need to get to work tomorrow morning? Also, is there a way to change diff fluid without a 14mm hex bit or hex wrench? This advice can wait, but please give me some O2 advice!!! It sure _sounds_ like it's coming from the tranny, and when I changed the oil just now and took it for another spin, the noise had sort of died down a little bit, but there's obviously something on its way to being junk downstream of the input shaft (noise is related to road speed, not engine speed). The worn synchros, I could drive around. A worn bearing, I can't. So what should I expect to spend for a less used 5 speed fit for an '86 528e? Or does someone offer a reasonably priced rebuild kit?
