The K9 relay is for the rear fog lights, you're on your own as to why there
is a jumper there.

Subject: [uuc] <E28> Stock Stereo

Greetings,

I've been lurking here for a while, this is my first post so I hope I
did everything right. Today a friend gave me a tape to listen to, I
think I own maybe one or two tapes so I didn't have a chance to check
the tape player on the stock radio (haven't had the car that long)
before I popped his tape in. The tape went in and that was it, would
not come out, play, or anything. The bad
part here is that the tape was not replaceable, it was a one off and was
important.

So I set about trying to get it out, which turned into an all out
surgery and ended in the radio being broken (don't ask). I would like
to replace the radio with a stock unit, the only part number I could
glean from the radio itself was BMW MODEL # CM5804, it also said Alpine
on the same sticker. The car is an 85 535i.

If any of you have one of these in a box out in your garage, or if you
have any ideas as to where I could find one at a decent price ($25 ish)
please drop me a line, the unit must be fully functional (radio, tape,
all face panel lights). If my price is off base let me know, I just
don't want to deal with installing or paying for an aftermarket stereo
right now. There is a chance I will be in the Seattle area this weekend
for a wedding, otherwise I'll be happy to pay shipping. Thanks for the
bandwidth.

i know this sounds crazy,, but i heard that peanut butter will get the wax
residue out of the porous black trim on the sides of our bmw's. i
personally havent had a need to try it since i had already bought and used
the forever black, but i heard it really works. it certainly wouldn't hurt
anything. your neighbors will at last realize that you really are crazy,,,
just as they've suspected all along. but hey,,, who does really understand

Are you planning on swapping all four tires, or only the two rears? If
you're swapping just the rears to the A032R's, seems to me that you'll be
really cranking up the understeer. Now, this may be acceptable for the
drag strip (however, I really don't know anything about drag racing...),
but it would be pretty miserable on the track. If you're going to the
R-compound tires, change all four so you increase the stick on both ends of
the car.

If you're new to driving schools/track schools, you may want to stay with
street tires for a bit - as someone else pointed out, they give you more
warning as they come up on their limits.

Hope this helps,

Wurth's Rubber Care also does an incredible job removing the wax residue. I
then follow with Black Again. See CarCareOnline.COM for more info. I've
also seen another detailer use this stuff at a CCA Spring Cleanup.
Incredible how well it works.

I usually apply a good quality vinyl preservative to the black trim

Ah-HA! Yet another little tax secret revealed upon yonder digest! This is
the way all you guys can afford your tow vehicles for your cars ! What you
do is have your bidness buy it....(Don't have one? Start one, great
write-offs). Buy a truck over 6,000 lb GVW and you can elect to take off UP
TO $ 19,000.00 in your section 179 deductibles the first year, then
depreciate the remainder over a shorter term than buying a car. (Kathy,
please feel free to correct me here if my numbers are off a bit). You can't
do that with a car, which must be put on a depreciation schedule. You'll
find also that the truck makers are wise to this, as many have GVW's just
over that 6,000 lb mark for that reason, kewl, eh? That's one reason I
bought a '99 Silverado Truck last year.....

BUT..., all may not be rosy in Depreciation Land, for you generally have to
run commerical insurance on a business truck, and that's mroe expensive than
personal insurance by far.

This Saturday I'll be upgrading the 325E from the stock chip to the Dinan.
While we won't be dyno-ing the car we will do some before and after runs with
a GTech Pro, same day, same road, etc.. A pal got one for Christmas and is
letting me borrow it. 'Supposed to be pretty accurate. Better than seat of

Steve,
A good multimeter comes with a complete manual on its operation. I like the
Fluke 87 myself. It has a backlight, continuity beeper, capacitor function,
voltage, current, ohms, etc. It also comes with a rubber case with a
flexible stand. Good luck!

The iX actually came with a viscous center differential and a viscous rear
differential. There was even a viscous front differential available in
Europe. The US iX could transfer up to 90% of the power to either axle.
Given the rear diff was also viscous, it could probably transfer 90% of
90% (= 81%) to either rear wheel.
