Subject: [uuc] [E30] Engine parts for sale

Hey everybody,

Due to the new head (<10k) creating added suction in the top end of my '87
325iS' motor, "oil starvation" was created in the short block. This
resulted in a blown connecting rod and bearing. Luckily, everything else is
just fine - and I'm selling it to fund an engine upgrade that I've been
considering. The engine has 180k miles with less than 10k on the new head.
I'm offering all the ENGINE parts - not the extremities that will be used
for the conversion. All the parts and pieces are currently in the trunk of
the car, wrapped up very nicely so as to keep everything in order. I am
not, nor do I claim to be, an engine expert so work with me on this! I'll
help you out to the best of my ability. Some major point to hit on are:

Complete "i" head: $500
Intake manifold: $85
Exhaust manifold: $85
Injectors: $50
Wiring harness: $100

Interested folks can contact me off the lists and you'll pay shipping on
whatever you want. Help a fellow enthusiast and treat yourself!

Subject: [uuc] <E30> clear blinkers

In a recent issue of BMW Car, a British mag, there's a picture of an E30
convertible with clear front blinkers. It doesn't show the back, but the
front looks very nice. I was wondering if anyone on this list knows where to
find these, and if they sell matching lenses for the rear.

Also, I need to replace my spark plugs and wires soon and I'm interested to
hear some recommendations regarding any better-than-stock replacements that
any of you have been pleased with, particularly on an '87-era 325i engine.

TIA,

Michael Kozitka

Subject: [uuc] Car Fax

Hi Guys,

Recently we used Car Fax to discover that an E30 (BMW content) that we were
buying off of EBay was totaled at one point and had a 'salvage title'. We
walked away from the deal. But we went on to buy a Honda off of Classifieds
yesterday. We also used Car Fax a second time, so this time we paid again
for the privilege. But we bought the 60-day unlimited version the second
time. So if you guys need a Car Fax ran send us the Vin# and we'll be glad
to run it for you for the next couple of months.

For us simpler folk, (at least us in CA), don't forget that your
tremendous license fee can be an income tax deduction.

There is some good advice on Frank Fahey's website
(www.frankfaheymotorsports.com) and the crank hub looks like a good idea if
you plan to use your car very hard. However his advice on oil lifespan
seemed pessimistic - I thought oil life was based largely on conditions of
use, not how far you have driven your car - and the recommended tyre
pressures go against every BMW owner's manual I've read.

I'm not advocating another war on oil life or tye pressure, though - as
Frank says, that's the way he sees it.

Subject: [uuc] E30 M3 parts referrals needed

I am within a month having some major work done on my M3 and am in need of
some experienced referrals for parts sources. My car is an '88 and is almost
completely stock except for minor regular maintence.

I live in Los Angeles and plan to have GT International in West Los Angeles
do all my work on suggestion from a board member of the BMW CCA LA (if anyone
has objection to this or other suggestions please advise me). I am currently
researching sources for suspension, induction and exhaust performance
upgrades. I have come up with a number of options, the leading sources being
Turner Motorsport, Korman and BMP. I would like to hear any and all good/bad
experience stories from people that have ordered from these sources or
others. I'm interested mainly in customer service, competative pricing and
stock availablity.

I'd also like to hear suggestions from those that have purchased complete
suspension packages from Korman or any other source. I will be using my car
mainly as a daily driver with Solo2 racing about 5+ times in 2000. I'd also
like to know if I should be considering adjustable camber plates and whether
or not they will significantly negatively alter the daily driving comfort of
the car. Also.. ( I know I'm probably asking too much in one post)... Are
there any enhancements or strengthening considerations I should think about
for linkage mounts or any other mounts that I should consider when doing a
performance suspension upgrade?

As a final question.... I had heard that there are no street legal
aftermarket exhaust systems available that offer any performance improvements
over the original set-up. Is this true and if not, what are the suggestions
given that I don't give a damn about how my exhaust sounds, but only about
how the engine performs?

I think that's more than enough for now. Obviously I have alot on my mind
and am fairly new to the M3 thing. Any and all advice is much appreciated.
